Mohandas Ghandi tells us that, “Where there is love, there is life.”
Scientists can tell us about the chemical changes inside our living bodies that we interpret as being in love.
Poets and philosophers tell us about the joys and pains of life and love, lost and found.
Many of the cultures of the Earth can attempt to dictate who is appropriate to to love and marry, and who is not. In ancient times, economy, geography and politics, mythology, were often times tied to decisions of betrothal.
Ultimately, when we fall in love, we simply know. In modern times, we have greater latitude to follow our hearts, and let no one put asunder.
For many people, marriage ceremonies are prescribed by culture and ages old traditions. For many, they hold meaning and beauty that cannot be denied. In a changing world, however, many more are forging new traditions, seeking new ways to signify their love through the legal bonds of marriage.
As an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church, I am authorized to solemnize your marriage, but I am not restricted by any tradition. I can bring a spiritual element to your wedding ceremony in nearly any way that is meaningful to the couple being joined.
Massachusetts law requires a marriage license, applied for before the ceremony, to be signed by an officiant such as myself, and to be witnessed by two people. Beyond that, the ceremony is for the couple to create – something meaningful to those two people.
From the Traditional, “We are gathered here…,” to Wiccan hand-fasting, to candle ceremonies, to the simplest affirmations of love, any combination thereof, to completely original concepts, my mission is to channel the element of the eternal love and energy of the Universe into a blessing upon those being transformed to a new life through the bonds of marriage.
